Matthew 21 1.Entry – Fig tree – Cleansing of the Temple – Parable of the Two Sons – Wicked Vinedressers The nation of Israel is in trouble

Matthew 22 1.Parable: Wedding Feast – Pharisees: Paying Taxes – Sadducees: The Resurrection – Scribes: Top Commandment Jesus: “Your turn; Son and Lord?” – Jesus proves His superior knowledge of the Word

Matthew 23 1.Condemnation of the Leaders – The Unwillingness of the Nation – The Leaders represent the rejection of the nation

Matthew 24:1-25:13 1.Get Ready: The Signs of Jesus Real Triumphal Entry and the End of the Age – Mistake #1 – “It’s a long time” – Mistake #2 – “It won’t be too long” – 25:1- 13 In light of Israel’s rejection, Jesus turns to future preparation.

Matthew 25: Using opportunities now to get ready – Judgment of the Tribulation Saints at Jesus’ Next Coming – In light of the Triumphal Return, people should prepare.

Matthew 25: Accountability These servants are evaluated based on their use of the ability given them.

Matthew 25: Accountability This is similar to Luke 19:11-27 which emphasizes the use of opportunity and takes place just before His Entry into Jerusalem.

Matthew 25:14-19 – The response of the servants The first two are faithful with what was given them, the last servant did not use what was given to him.

Matthew 25:20-23 – The first two servants The first two bring 100% return and, even though they have different abilities, are given equal reward and the joy of co-heirship with Christ.

Matthew 25:24-25 – The last servant’s response Notice how his theology impacts his behavior!

Matthew 25:26-30 – Jesus’ response to the third man The last servant is demoted from any responsibility and is excluded from the joy the others experienced, which results in sadness (“weeping”) and frustration on his part (“gnashing of teeth”).

Matthew – From Entry to Arrest Knowing the nation’s coming rejection, Jesus warned us to get ready for when He comes again, when His entrance will indeed be triumphant!
