Service Fees  Annual cost for nursing homes in 2013:  Semi private room: $69,350  Private room: $77,745  Annual cost for assisted living in 2013:  Private, one bedroom: $55,800  Annual cost of at home care:  Home health aide: $50,222  Homemaker services: $45,760

Interesting Facts and National Data  Being cared for is extremely expensive based on the 2007 national average it will cost over $66,000 per year for a semi-private room in a nursing facility.  The average cost of a nursing home for one year is more than the typical family has saved for retirement in a 401K or an IRA.  Not fully covered by medicare or other mdical plans.  Average length of stay in a nursing home is 2.4 years.  After the age of 65 years, about 43 of 100 people will spend some time in a nursing home.
