WHAT PROFESSIONALS DO YOU FIND IN THE STUDY OF GEOGRAPHY & HISTORY? Cooking up some history learning….

Historian Someone who is an authority on history and who studies and writes about it. A writer, student, or scholar Compiles chronological records of events; a chronicler …A person at a desk, piled with books and papers, typing on a computer

Archaeologist *A professional scholar who studies and reconstructs the human past through its physical remains. *involves scientific finding, collecting, cleaning, sorting, identifying, and measuring. *motive is to record and interpret ancient cultures. In shorts and dirty t-shirt, outside on your knees with tools all around.

Geographer *A person who specializes in geographical research, delineation, and study. *scientifically studies the surface of the earth, climate, topography, vegetation, population, and its effect of the earth and its people. “weatherman” lots of graphs, charts, interpreting data

Anthropologist *someone who pursues the study of mankind. *study of human culture and its evolution or change over time. *try to figure out how the pieces of man and his history fit together. Fun to talk to because they are always making comparisons to what they see with similar occurrences in other lands.

So what is Human Geography?  Human geography is a branch of the social sciences that studies the world, its people, communities and cultures with an emphasis on relations of and across space and place.  …so anthropologist???

Are Human Geographers Anthropologists?  Depends on who you talk to….bottom line …  Human Geographers try to answer one question….
