CG UAS Vision Land-Based sUAS for all Cutter-Based Need Cutter-Based Continue joint ops w/ CBP MQ-9 until technology develops to allow UAS to engage in all 11 mission of the USCG, then proceed with Major Acquisition . sUAS for all Cutter-Based Need Cutter-Based Small UAS (sUAS) for NSC Successful non-major acquisition of sUAS could morph into Major acquisition for all cutter-based UAS needs; capable, standardized, affordable sUAS systems. Hand-launched (Group 1) UAS Pending development of requirements and FAA policy, Group 1 UAS could be procured fleet-wide as ‘optical systems’ rather than aviation assets. i.e. binoculars.

CG Underwater ROV Underwater Remote Operated Vehicle (ROV) Specifications Hi-def camera augmented with side scan sonar Manipulator arm for retrieving small items 1,000 ft depth rating 3-5 knots current ~13.5 lbs. Regional Diver Locker West locates wreckage of AK Channel Light PRO4 XE GTO, VideoRay CG Divers conduct hull inspection of USCGC SEA OTTER Searched for & located missing sunken buoys Ports, Waterways and Coastal Security including pier/high value asset/ critical infrastructure inspections ID’d line in prop for CGC TAMPA, divers removed line Marine Casualty investigations Operational Examples CG has limited underwater remote operated vehicle capability: All (11) MSSTs have ROVs & all (3) Regional Dive Lockers have ROVs. The capability can be launched from a vessel, small boat, pier, and shore. ROV is small, light weight, and portable. ROV Operations ROV-Marine Dive Casualty Investigation (Wilmington NC) Oct 2011 RDLE used to located submerged diving equipment in support of marine fatality investigation; divers recovered diving equipment at 105 foot depth and delivered to lead investigator. ROV and Side Scan-Pier Inspection (Philadelphia, PA) 22-Feb-14 RDLE assisted with pier inspection in support of USS SOMERSET commissioning at Penns' Landing Pier. Divers utilized special capabilities to search the pier face for underwater hazardous devices (UHDs). Side-scan sonar imagery and ROV were used successfully to search 800' of pier face in strong currents. No anomalies were found. ROV, DIDSON-DH, and Underwater Metal Detector-Search and Recovery 21-Mar-14 RDLW assisted with Sherriff's Dept to search suspect area using ROV, DIDSON, and metal detectors in support of a murder investigation (searching for murder weapon). The use of technology was useful but results varied due to trash, rocks, and rebar in the concrete drainage basin. Divers also searched by hand, mitigating risk of unknown hazards/contaminated water by dressing in drysuits with full face masks and having decontamination stations on scene (provided by Sherriff's dept). Joint RDL (RDLE & RDLW) Assists in rescue with ROV Operation Deep Freeze 2015 RDLs passes ROV to Australian-flagged fishing vessel Antarctic Chieftain to assist in rescue aboard CGC Polar Star in Antarctica Joint Regional Dive Locker OP ROV passed to Antarctic Chieftain to assist in rescue aboard USCGC POLAR STAR
