The 654 foot (Singapore) vessel was making a great circle transit and was 400 nm south of Dutch Harbor, AK when they requested CG assistance. This was a car carrier with almost 5,000 cars onboard. The vessel was reportedly listing 80 degrees due to an unknown cause and the crew could not enter the life rafts due to this extreme list.
Good Samaritan vessels, RUSH, and a C130 were dispatched or diverted. Two other AMVER vessels were diverted, but released. Numerous USAF assets including para-jumpers were put on standby. The C130 dropped survival vests.

All 23 crew members were hoisted by a USCG HH60 and two National Guard HH60.
26 Jul - 01 Sep 2006
CG Sector Anchorage assumed FOSC and coordinated contract salver, owner, and CG SERT (Salvage and Response Team) throughout process of towing, righting, and transit to Wide Bay, AK at Dutch Harbor. Once anchored, the contractor progressively dewatered and righted vessel. Cause of incident was determined to be crew induced by improperly ballasting.
01 Sept Righted and temporarily repaired vessel departed Dutch Harbor and was towed to Portland, OR.

Key to this organizational chart is the visual depiction of the Coast Guard’s Operations Directorate.
Within the Operations Directorate we have product lines, search and rescue, aids to navigation, marine safety, and so forth. The goal there is to unify us under a standard organizational structure and to unify all the operational programs. This is a significant step toward enhancing Mission Execution.
