First-Year Engineering Program Performance Test 2: Operational Objectives Objective and Goals Analysis Test Readiness Review

First-Year Engineering Program AEV Project Objective (Problem Definition) INITIAL CONCEPTS (Brainstorming) INITIAL EXPERIMENTAL RESEARCH ANALYZE DESIGN DECISION RESEARCH COMPARE FINAL DESIGN Present AEV Design PT 1 PT 2 PT 3 PT 4 (Power Available)(Energy Analysis)(Programming)

First-Year Engineering Program Objectives 1.Determine distance to each stop and program AEV operation for one full circuit 2.Test program strategy and analyze results statically and on the classroom track

First-Year Engineering Program Goals 1.Plot AEV power-time curves, 2.Determine energy used throughout AEV operations, 3.Record results in PT2 summary report 4.Use results to work on modifying programming strategy to improve energy used

First-Year Engineering Program

Data Analysis – What does it mean? PT2 Meeting operational objectives and programming strategy Determine overall operational characteristics PT3 Improve energy efficiency in overall operational characteristics Energy optimization PT4 Final testing

First-Year Engineering Program PT2 Operational Objectives Assignments 1.Prepare PT2-TRR Requirements (DUE at the BEGINNING of the lab) 2.Prepare AEV-PT2 Summary document, using Grading Guidelines

First-Year Engineering Program PT2-TRR Requirements TEAM: 1.Determine distance to each stop for one full circuit. Create a table with each station and distance for the overall operational objective INDIVIDUAL: 1.Develop an arduino control program for the AEV to meet the operational objectives. Upload the program to the AEV and confirm operation statically. (Spin wheel by hand.) 2.Using AEV Analysis software, generate static power-time curve and overall operation energy used for each INDIVIDUAL written program. Turn in plot and overall energy used for each INDIVIDUAL.

First-Year Engineering Program PT2 Day 1 1.Start working on PT2 Test Readiness Review Document including: a.Start making track measurements b.Plan for classroom track testing Manage your time and team member responsibilities!

First-Year Engineering Program PT2 Day 2: Work Session 1.Continue working on PT2 Test Readiness Review Document including: a.Continue making track measurements b.Continue planning for classroom track testing 2.Start PT4 Summary following PT2 Grading Guidelines 3.AEV Static Testing should be tested and analysis plots generated Manage your time and team member responsibilities!

First-Year Engineering Program PT2 Day 3: Lab 1.Test Readiness Review document is due at the Beginning of Lab 2.Schedule for testing is posted in the class drive:  Classroom track schedule for testing is posted in the class drive 3.Finish Performance Test 2 and write summary results 3.Prepare for Performance Test 3 a)Assigned readings, etc.
