Diseases caused by Tobacco

Ulcer Painful sore or opening in the lining of the stomach Digestive

Leukoplakia Painful, white patches develop in the mouth – leads to cancer Digestive

Macular Degeneration A disease where the retina (center of the eye) becomes destroyed. Vision is greatly impaired nervous

Stroke This occurs when oxygen does not make it to the brain nervous

Chronic Bronchitis A disease where an airway in the lungs become swollen and painful respiratory

Emphysema A disease where the air sacs in the lungs (which allow us to take in oxygen) become destroyed respiratory

heart disease A disease where the arteries that deliver oxygen become narrow (difficult for blood to pass by) _id= _id=20607 circulatory

Thrombosis A disease where clots form in blood vessels circulatory

Directions For Body Drawing *** All drawings need to be done in pencil first*** 1.Go to page 193 and draw the brain ONLY 2.Draw the eyes and the mouth of the “person” 3. Go to page 191 and draw the trachea, lungs, bronchi, bronchioles, and alveoli *be sure to leave a space between the lungs for the heart* 3. Go to page 186 and draw the stomach, pancreas, colon, small intestine, gallbladder and liver 4. Go to page 189 and draw the heart with arteries and veins throughout the body 5. Lightly shade in ALL the parts you drew with the appropriate colors 6. Draw the body with all 8 diseases and LABEL the disease. **do not label the organs, only the diseases!**
