The Gospel “I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! ” Galatians 1:6-12

The Gospel The ONE Gospel “I am amazed that you are so quickly deserting Him who called you by the grace of Christ, for a different gospel; which is really not another; only there are some who are disturbing you and want to distort the gospel of Christ. But even if we or an angel from heaven should preach a gospel other than the one we preached to you, let him be eternally condemned! ” Galatians 1:6-12 How can I know? Where would we start? Galatians 1:6-12

Three Deaths SPIRITUALMORTALJUDICIAL Life atonement for sin “The wages of sin is death” Romans 3:23 “for dust you are, and to the dust you shall return.” Genesis 3:19 “without the shedding of blood there can be no forgiveness of sin” Hebrews 9:22 Required of every sinner Death of our bodies Result of Adam and Eve’s first sin Separation From God Result of individual sin

We find ourselves in a very desperate situation: We have broken the laws of the God of the universe, this has separated us from a Holy God, and the price of death hangs over our head (which we cannot pay!) by a just God! God’s Justice Demands Death as Payment for Sin Justice

God gives what is not deserved (Romans 3:23-26; 5:6-11) God does not give what is deserved (Romans 1:18) God’s Love Provides a way to Pay the Price LIFE! DEATH! Love GRACE MERCY

Our sins can not and will not be forgiven – This is according to the scheme of redemption for “without the shedding of blood there is no forgiveness of sins.” UNLESS: We have died with Christ We have been united with Christ in His death We have been crucified with Christ We have died to sin

1 Peter 1:18-19 you were redeemed with precious blood, as of a lamb unblemished and spotless, the blood of Christ. 1 Peter 2:24 He Himself bore our sins in His body on the cross, that we might die to sin. When?

The fundamental question of the gospel is: When? At what point in my faith do I die to sin? do I die with Christ? When does God view me as uniting with Christ in his death? crucified with Christ? Or How?

The fundamental question of the gospel is: When? ROMANS 6 1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace might increase? 2 May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? died to sin

3 Or don’t you know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? Baptized into Jesus Christ Baptized into His Death!

4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death,… Buried with Christ through baptism…into death!

4 …in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. Jn. 3:5 2 Cor. 5:17

United with Him in the likeness of His death 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection,

6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin; United with Him in the likeness of His death

7 for he who has died is freed from sin United with Him in the likeness of His death

8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him… United with Him in the likeness of His death

10 For the death that He died, He died to sin, once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. United with Him in the likeness of His death

10 For the death that He died, He died to sin, once for all; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 In the same way count yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus United with Him in the likeness of His death

12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey its lusts,…. United with Him in the likeness of His death REPENTANCE

United with Him in the likeness of His death 17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, FAITH

22 But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. United with Him in the likeness of His death HOLY

23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.. United with Him in the likeness of His death GIFT

ROMANS6 1 What shall we say then? Are we to continue in sin that grace might increase? 2 May it never be! How shall we who died to sin still live in it? 3 Or don’t you know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus have been baptized into His death? 4 Therefore we have been buried with Him through baptism into death, in order that as Christ was raised from the dead through the glory of the Father, so we too might walk in newness of life. 5 For if we have become united with Him in the likeness of His death, certainly we shall be also in the likeness of His resurrection, 6 knowing this, that our old self was crucified with Him, that our body of sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin; 7 for he who has died is freed from sin. 8 Now if we have died with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with Him, 9 knowing that Christ, having been raised from the dead, is never to die again; death no longer is master over Him. 10 For the death that He died, He died to sin, once for all ; but the life that He lives, He lives to God. 11 In the same way count yourselves to be dead to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus. 12 Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body that you should obey its lusts, …. 17 But thanks be to God that though you were slaves of sin, you became obedient from the heart to that form of teaching to which you were committed, 18 and having been freed from sin, you became slaves of righteousness. … so now present your members as slaves to righteousness, resulting in sanctification. … 22 But now having been freed from sin and enslaved to God, you derive your benefit, resulting in sanctification, and the outcome, eternal life. 23 For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord. we died to sin baptized into Christ Jesus baptized into His death buried with Him through baptism buried into death united with Him in death old self crucified with Him body of sin done away with died with Christ He died to sin once for ALL count yourselves dead to sin you became obedient from the heart freed from sin slaves to righteousness resulting in sanctification freed from sin newness of life he who has died is freed from sin enslaved to God wages of sin is death free gift of God eternal life in Jesus Christ our Lord

1 Jn. 3:14 “We know that we have passed out of death into life…” v5 united with Him in the likeness of His death

Have you died with Christ?

Romans 5:8-10 But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from the wrath of God through Him. For if while we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. An Undeserved Sacrifice Heb 9:22 …without the shedding of blood there is no remission.
