Romans Chapter 6:1-23

3 Shall We Continue To Sin?
Chapters 1 & 2 All Have Sinned!! Chapters 3 & 4 Can be justified through faith in Jesus Christ.

4 An erroneous inference...
Romans 6:1 “Let’s continue in sin, that grace may abound!”

5 No! We Died to Sin!

6 We Have Died To Sin! Crucified With Christ in Baptism Romans 6:2-3
By no means! How can we who died to sin still live in it? Do you not know that all of us who have been baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death?

7 We Have Died To Sin! Crucified With Christ in Baptism
Is a burial into the death of Christ. Is where we were crucified with Christ. Repentance is NOT where we die to sin.

8 We Have Died To Sin! Now Walk in Newness of Life Romans 6:4-5
We were buried therefore with him by baptism into death, in order that, just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, we too might walk in newness of life. For if we have been united with him in a death like his, we shall certainly be united with him in a resurrection like his.

9 We Have Died To Sin! Now Walk in Newness of Life
As Christ rose from the grave, so we rise from baptism to walk in newness of life. We are now a new creation in Christ – 2 Corinthians 5: So if any man is in Christ, he is in a new world: the old things have come to an end; they have truly become new.

10 We Have Died To Sin! We Are No Longer Slaves Of Sin Romans 6:6-7
Being conscious that our old man was put to death on the cross with him, so that the body of sin might be put away, and we might no longer be servants to sin. Because he who is dead is free from sin.

11 We Have Died To Sin! We Are No Longer Slaves Of Sin (6-7)
Purpose of dying to sin in baptism, to be free from sin! A point Paul will expound upon later.

12 We Have Died To Sin! We Can Now Live With Christ (8-10)
Christ now lives with God in newness of life We died with Christ, we can also live like Christ!

13 Ephesians 2:4-5 But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ— by grace you have been saved—

14 No! We Are Alive To God!

15 We Have Died To Sin! Sin Does Not Have to Reign in Us (12) Romans 6:12
Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts.

16 No! We Are To Be Slaves Of Righteousness! (19)

17 Slaves of Righteousness!
We Are Slaves to Whatever We Obey (15-16) Grace is no excuse to sin. We are either slaves of sin, or slaves of righteousness. If we continue in sin, we once again become slaves of sin! - cf. Jn 8:34 For Christians to continue in sin makes things worse - cf. 2 Pe 2:20-22

18 Slaves of Righteousness!
We Are To Serve Righteousness Like We Once Served Sin (19)

19 No! The Wages Of Sin Is Death!

20 Wages of Sin Is Death! Fruit Of Slavery To Sin Is Death (20-21)
Dying in sin will separate us from for eternity - cf. Re 21:8 The Grace Of God Offers Eternal Life (22-23)
