1. THE START OF THE PROCESS b) The National Transplant Organisation is informed. a) A possible donor, who is believed to be brain dead, is identified in a hospital.

2. VERIFICATION OF BRAIN DEATH Complementary medical examinations are carried out in order to verify brain death.

3. THE DEAD PERSON’S WISHES The relatives are consulted about the deceased’s wishes about to organ donation.

4. FINDING A RECIPIENT While the brain death is being verified, a recipient for the organs is found, in accordance with a waiting list.

5. EXTRACTION OF THE ORGANS Once the organs have been assigned, they are extracted from the dead patient.

6. TRANSPORTATION OF THE ORGANS The organs are transported to the hospital where they are going to be used in special equipment which guarantees that they are perfectly conserved.

7. TRANSPLANTATION When the organs arrive at the hospital, they are transplanted into the recipient.
