2 ROLE and MANDATE Future Administrator of the property for the Crown Implementer of the Nanisivik Naval Facility (NNF) construction project Provide input to the NWB in regards to the Water Use License with respect to DND’s interests with future land use planning (NNF)

3 INTRODUCTION CanZinco remediation work within the former tank farm area showed progress during the 2014 field season DND reviewed CanZinco’s Water Use License submission Contaminated soil remains to be excavated in June 2015

7 QUESTION If contaminated soil is encountered during the Nanisivik Naval Facility (NNF) construction, after CanZinco has completed the remediation within the footprint of the NNF, who is responsible to treat the contaminated soil and can the Water Use License include wording to address this?

8 SUMMARY No significant issues with CanZinco Water Use License renewal/amendment. DND is concerned with contaminant migration from the treatment cells contaminated soil remediation progress report will be review by DND when submitted to NWB later this year. Responsibility for contaminated soil encountered during the Nanisivik Naval Facility construction.
