Next Generation Networks Definition: “ A Next Generation Networks (NGN) is a packet- based network able to provide Telecommunication Services to users and able to make use of multiple broadband, QoS-enabled transport technologies and in which service-related functions are independent of the underlying transport-related technologies. It enables unfettered access for users to networks and to competing service providers and services of their choice. It supports generalised mobility which will allow consistent and ubiquitous provision of services to users”. [ITU-T Recommendation Y.2001 (12/2004) - General overview of NGN]

Service Delivery Platform

JAIN SIP Applet Phone Origins: Born out of JAIN SIP Initiative Developed by NIST labs Open source Java softphone based on JAIN SIP 1.2 API Planned Extensions: Video services Interop testing Customisation for inhouse projects

JAIN SLEE and JAIN APIs

JAIN Service Logic and Execution Environment Defines component model for structuring applications through reusable OO components

JAIN SLEE Component Architecture

JAIN SLEE Service Instantiation

Mobicents Services Mobicents The only open source certified JAIN SLEE platform Enables creation, deployment and management of services that integratee voice video and data across IP networks by multiple devices

New Architecture
