Athena By: Meredith Feinman

Athena Athena’s ancient Greek name is Ἀθηνᾶ and her English name is Athena. She is one of the 12 major Olympians. She is the goddess of wisdom, warfare, battle strategy, heroic endeavor, handicrafts, and reason.

Athena Her symbols are an olive tree and an owl Athena had motherly qualities. She acted as a foster mother and raised the god, Erichthonius, as her own son. She was wise and her foresight was very valuable to the gods. Athena with one of her symbols, the spear

Athena Athena’s father is Zeus and her mother is Metis, the goddess of wisdom. She has several half brothers and sisters including Aphrodite, Apollo, Ares, and Artemis Zeus, Athena’s father

Athena Once, when a man called Teiresias accidentally walked in upon the goddess Athena while she was bathing (an act usually punished by death), Athena took pity on the poor mortal.

Athena Not wishing his death, she instead covered his eyes with her hands, thus simultaneously blinding him and giving him "inner sight", i.e., the gift of prophecy. As a result he became one of the most revered oracles in ancient Greece.

Athena Athena is known as the goddess of war. She is Zeus's favorite daughter.
