JENSEN, RICARDO, AND ADRIANA OUR “AMERICAN DREAM”
MISSION STATEMENT The concept of the “American Dream” has changed over time. Equality has opened up the doors for all American’s to pursue their individual dreams, including quality education and career choice. A quality education will provide financial security.
THE “POET”…ADRIANA The following poem depicts my personal “American Dream”, that there is freedom all over the world. The poem was written by an American soldier, Sergeant Aaron M. Gilbert and explains how the marines (and other military) fight everyday to protect the freedoms that we enjoy in America.
THE AMERICAN DREAM BY: SERGEANT AARON M. GILBERT Through all the fires, Through all the pain, The Marines stand tall, To fight once again. Always on call, The Presidents own. Always fighting, To protect our home. My life for our freedom, My freedom to you, These are gifts that we give, For the Red White and Blue
We die for you, We die for them, We do not complain, About where or when. For this is our job, To fight around the world And give the gift of our freedom To every boy and every girl. And yes peaceful solutions, Can not always be found, To free a trapped people, From the terror around. So we fought in this war, With resolve in our hearts, To help Iraq's people Have a new and free start. So speak of your "Peace," And how war is so wrong, But shut your face when we're called To give out the freedom we've won. For you did not fight, And you did not bleed. And you did not die, For the American dream
THE “PRODUCER”…RICARDO The 2 films I chose truly depict the “rags to riches” dream that many Americans have. With hard work and dedication, a better life can be made.
PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS 2006 American biographical drama film directed by Gabriele Muccino and based on the life of Chris Gardner. The film stars Will Smith as Gardner, an on-and-off-homeless salesman- turned stockbroker.
ROCKY Rocky is a 1976 American sports drama film directed by John G. Avildsen, and written by and starring Sylvester Stallone. It tells the rags to riches American Dream story of Rocky Balboa, an uneducated but kind-hearted debt collector for a loan shark in the city of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Rocky starts out as a club fighter who gets a shot at the world heavyweight championship when the scheduled contender breaks his hand. The film also stars Talia Shire as Adrian, Burt Young as Adrian's brother Paulie, Burgess Meredith as Rocky's trainer Mickey Goldmill, and Carl Weathers as the champion, Apollo Creed

AFFIRMATION Through hard work, whether it be military person’s fighting for freedom, or the average American hoping to go from “rags to riches”, the “American Dreams” that are held can be achieved. No dreams can be achieved by just sitting back, waiting for change to happen.
MAKING DREAMS A REALITY Military personnel help keep the “American Dream” of security and peace alive everyday. Through a quality education, hard work and determination, the “American Dream” of success can come true.
