John Guilbert Avildsen (born December 21, 1935) is an American film director. He won the Academy Award for Best Director in 1977 for Rocky. Other films he directed include Joe, Save the Tiger, Fore Play, The Formula,Neighbors, For Keeps, Lean on Me, The Power of One, 8 Seconds, Inferno,Rocky V and the first three Karate Kid movies.

3 Writer/Star Sylvester Stallone
Born on July 6, 1946, in New York City, Sylvester Stallone rose to fame as the writer and lead of the Academy Award- winning boxing film Rocky (1976). He went on to become one of the biggest action stars in the world, reprising his characters from Rocky and First Blood (1982) for several sequels. Following a mid-career decline, he rediscovered box-office success with a series of action films that included The Expendables (2010) and has earned critical acclaim reprising his Rocky role in Creed (2015), winning his first Golden Globe and receiving another Oscar nomination. “Rocky was the best friend I ever had,” Stallone on playing Rocky one more time in Creed.

4 Sylvester Gardenzio Stallone born July 6, 1946) is an American actor, screenwriter, producer, and director. He is well known for his Hollywood action roles, namely boxer Rocky Balboa, the title character of the Rocky series' seven films from 1976 to 2015; soldier John Rambo from the four Rambo films, released between 1982 and 2008; and Barney Ross in the three The Expendables films from 2010 to He wrote or co-wrote most of the 14 films in all three franchises, and directed many of the films. Stallone's film Rocky was inducted into the National Film Registry as well as having its film props placed in the Smithsonian Museum. Stallone's use of the front entrance to the Philadelphia Museum of Art in the Rocky series led the area to be nicknamed the Rocky Steps. Philadelphia has a statue of his Rocky character placed permanently near the museum. It was announced on December 7, 2010 that Stallone was voted into the International Boxing Hall of Fame in the non-participant category. In 1977, Stallone was nominated for two Academy Awards for Rocky,  and Best Actor. He became the third man in history to receive these two nominations for the same film, after Charles Chaplin and Orson Welles. He received critical raves, as well as his first Golden Globe Award and third Academy Award nomination, for reprising the role of Rocky Balboa in Ryan Coogler's 2015 film Creed.

5 Starring Talia Shire Talia Rose Shire (née Coppola; born April 25, 1946) is an Italian-American actress most known for her roles as Connie Corleone in The Godfather films and Adrian Balboa in the Rocky series. For her work in The Godfather Part II and Rocky, Shire has been nominated for two Academy Awards for Best Supporting Actress and Best Actress, respectively.

6 Starring Burt Young Gerald Tommaso DeLouise (born April 30, 1940), better known by his stage name Burt Young, is an American actor, painter and author. He is best known for his Academy Award- nominated role as Sylvester Stallone's character's brother-in-law and best friend Paulie Pennino in the Rocky film series. He also had praised roles in The Gambler, Chinatown, Uncle Joe Shannon, Back to School, Once Upon A Time in America, and Convoy.

Carl Weathers (born January 14, 1948) is an American actor and former professional football player. He is best known for portraying Apollo Creed in the Rocky series of films. He also portrayed Jericho "Action" Jackson in Action Jackson, Dillon in Predator, Chubbs Peterson in Happy Gilmore and Little Nicky, and a fictionalized version of himself on the comedy series Arrested Development.

Oliver Burgess Meredith (November 16, 1907 – September 9, 1997), known professionally as Burgess Meredith, was an American actor, director, producer, and writer in theater, film, and television. Active for more than six decades, Meredith has been called "a virtuosic actor" and "one of the most accomplished actors of the century".  A life member of the Actors Studio by invitation, he won several Emmys, was the first male actor to win the Saturn Award for Best Supporting Actor twice, and was nominated for two Academy Awards. Meredith was known later in his career for his appearances on The Twilight Zone, portraying arch- villain The Penguin on the 1960s TV series Batman, and boxing trainer Mickey Goldmill in the Rocky film series. "Although those performances renewed his popularity," observed Mel Gussow in The New York Times, "they represented only a small part of a richly varied career in which he played many of the more demanding roles in classical and contemporary theater—in plays by Shakespeare, O'Neill, Beckett and others."
