What is HST Coordination? Human Services Transportation Transportation for three distinct population groups: older adults, individuals with disabilities, and individuals with low- income. Coordination: the harmonious functioning of parts for effective results Is not a “one time” event or process! It is Shared power, shared responsibility, shared management, shared funding, and shared benefits.

Reasons to Coordinate: Improve efficiencies in existing transportation operations and systems Lower cost for the customer, provider, and human service agencies Expand service areas and hours of operation Create a seamless regional system and seamless trip Improve customer satisfaction

Existing Conditions continued: 85+ population is the fastest growing segment of the region’s population increasing by 55% between 1990 and % of older adults are homeowners. 10% of older adults in the region live below poverty. Between 1990 and 2000, the 65 and older population in the region increased by 30%.

Existing Conditions continued: In six out of 10 counties, growth in the older adult population exceeded growth in the general population. Three of the region’s 10 counties have among the 20 fastest growing older adult populations in the nation. Region’s population that is over age 60 is expected to double, from 10 percent in 2000 to 20 percent in Resource:
