Voki is a combination of “vox”, which is Latin for voice, and “Loki”, which is a prankster character in Norse Mythology.

 You don't need any advanced technological knowledge to use Voki.  Creating a Voki is a simple step-by-step process that anyone with Internet and a mouse can easily complete  Voki is free for ALL educators and students.  It’s easy and very user friendly!

Voki enables users to express themselves on the web in their own voice using a talking character. They can be customized to be either characters that resemble their maker or take on the identity of lots of other types of characters, animals, monsters, anime etc. Voices are added via microphone, upload, or phone.

 Oddcast, a New York based company introduced the speaking characters.  Voki is solely and exclusively for personal, non-commercial use. It is a FREE service that allows you to create personalized speaking avatars to use on blogs, profiles and in .

 Instructors can use a voki avatar to introduce the course or topics.  It can also be used to aid in instructing those who are more audio/visual learners.

 Character Style- Select a character  Customization- Change the look, clothing and accessories  Voice- Add your own voice via phone, microphone, text to speech or upload a file  Background- Choose a background from the library or upload your own.

 Click Publish to to a friend or get code to take your Voki avatar anywhere  We have found it best, if allowing students to publish them, have them sign into your account where all avatars can be stored for future use!!!!
