What is Energy?. Energy is the capacity for action/doing work.
Ecosystem Structure.
Food Chain – a model of how energy is passed from organism to organism in a community Energy moves from one organism to the next in a one-way direction.

A producer is an organism that gets its energy from the sun. Example: sunflower plant.
Decomposers are organisms that eat dead or decaying organisms. They carry out the natural process of decomposition. Fungi is the primary and most common.

Mrs. Schultz

What is a Food Chain? A series of events in which one organism eats another to obtain energy!

What is a food web? Many overlapping food chains in an ecosystem!

What is a producer A Plant!

What is a consumer? An organism that obtains energy by feeding on another organism!

What is a primary consumer First level consumer- eats producer (must be an omnivore or herbivore---NO CARNIVORES)

What is a Tertiary Consumer An organism at the top of the food chain- eats secondary consumers

Carnivores… Eat only meat!

Herbivores Eat only plants

Omnivores Eat plants and animals
