BY SAM HARRIS

Bullying is when someone, or a group of people, upset or create a risk to another person's health. Either physically, psychologically or to their property, reputation or social acceptance on more than one occasion.

Direct physical bullying e.g. hitting, tripping, and pushing or damaging their property. Direct verbal bullying- This includes name calling, insults, racist remarks, verbal abuse and more. Indirect bullying - This form of bullying is harder to recognize and often carried out behind the person’s back. It is designed to harm someone’s social reputation andcause humiliation.

If your friend has somebody to talk to you, they won't feel so alone. Don't encourage the bullies by laughing or smiling at the things they say or do. You can tell the bullies that you don't accept what they're doing and try to get them to stop. Don't ditch your friend. Don't get into fights with the bullies. Getting into trouble won't help your friend. Tell someone

There are things you can do to deflect people who bully: 1) Act more confident. If a person who bullies feels that they don't have any power over you. 2) Hang around with friends or an adult at times when you're most likely of being bullied. 3) Don't fight back. It can make the situation worse, and you could also get into trouble. 4) Tell someone, for example a teacher or parent.
