PROGRAMME STRUCTURE The PhD (Education) Programme is essentially a research degree. The Programme comprises 3 parts : Part I – Candidates are required to take the following courses: ) Research Methods in Education (3 credits ) Doctoral Seminar: Research Area in Education (3 Credits)

Part 2 : Upon completion of the required courses, obtaining a grade B for each course, candidates need to prepare a research proposal under the guidance of a supervisor/supervisory committee. The Proposal is to be submitted for Proposal Defence (Written & Oral) Upon completing the Proposal Defence, candidates can proceed to Part 3.

Part 3 : Candidates are required to conduct the proposed research and complete a thesis under the guidance of a supervisor/supervisory committee approved by OUM. Candidates can apply to present their progress at Doctoral Seminar : Research Progress, and subsequently their preliminary findings at Doctoral Seminar: Preliminary Findings (optional) The completed thesis will be assessed by Three (3) examiners (at least 2 external examiners), followed by a VIVA VOCE.

Research Proposal Writing Research Methods in Education Doctoral Seminar: Research Area in Education Student must obtain at least a grade B for each course. < 3.00 CGPA 3.00 or more Research Proposal Writing Proposal Defense Research Progress Presentation Preliminary Findings Presentation Research Report Writing (Thesis) DEGREE CONFERED Acceptable Resubmission* VIVA DEGREE NOT CONFERED Reject * Only One (1) Resubmission is allowed.

ASSESSMENT Research Methods in Education: Assignment - 100 % Doctoral Seminar: Research In Education (Lit. Review) Assignments - 100 % Research Proposal Proposal Defense – Minor or Major Correction Thesis Examination: VIVA VOCE – Accept without amendment - Accept with minor amendment (3 mths) - Accept with major amendment (6 mths) - Resubmission (12 mths) & ReVIVA - Reject

Learning Methods SELF-MANAGED LEARNING (90 hours) – 75% Study independently according to time availability. Modules/Customized textbooks Study Guide. SCHEDULED SEMINARS (15 hours/course) – 12.5% Conducted by facilitators (professors/experts in the industry). Seminars are held at KLLC 5 times. (3 hours/seminar/course). ONLINE COLLABORATIVE LEARNING (15 hours) - 12.5% Online group discussion through MyVle
