SUPPORTED BY WESTERN AUSTRALIAN LOCAL GOVERNMENTS Discovering Books and Information Online: Module 2 I Wonder Why? Information Literacy for Families

What is Better Beginnings? A universal family literacy program that encourages a love of books and reading Supports the early development of children from birth to five years of age Supports parents as their child’s first teacher Links families to appropriate resources and their local public library

Why online books and information? Online books and resources introduce children to alternative formats of reading and introduce early information literacy skills (e.g. searching) They offer a motivational and interactive early learning environment that encourages reluctant and less confident readers The State Library of Western Australia provides access to quality online resources for free!
