3. AR - What is it?
Accelerated Reader is an online reading incentive program used to encourage students to read.
Students read a book
Take a test
Earn points for rewards

4. AR - What it is not
AR is not to replace academic work, to be used as a grade, or to be used as a form of punishment.
It should not take up all of their time.
Students still need fun: outside play and reading just for enjoyment.

5. Why do we need it? To motivate struggling readers.
To reward students for achieving a goal.
To Improve reading levels.

6. How to help We work as a team: Family, students, teachers
Read for pleasure.
Look on the school’s website for the AR Home Connect site.
