The Monument to the Founders of the Bulgarian State The biggest monument on the Balkan Peninsula, located in the south-eastern part of the Shumen plateau was erected in honor of 1300th anniversary since the foundation of the Bulgarian State.

Shumen Fortress Historical Archeological Reserve It is situated at the edge of the Shumen Plateau.

The Great Basilica, the archbishop’s residence and the first Bulgarian monastery. Prior to the construction of the basilica, there stood an eagerly Christian martyrium, comprising a cross-shaped temple and a well.
