Miscelleanous: Upgrade Physics Group 19 Nov 2014 S. Zimmermann, NSW SG 2 Update: Stephanie contacted Gerald Oakham to ask whether a volunteer from the Canadian groups (strong on simulations) can be found Your suggestions are welcome as well

Miscelleanous: ELTX Prel. Design Review Now frozen and communicated to ATLAS Review office as 3 day review Monday/Tuesday Feb 9 and – On-detector electronics Friday Feb – Trigger processors 19 Nov 2014 S. Zimmermann, NSW SG 3 Week after is ATLAS week.

Miscelleaneous Action Item for Dec Muon Week: Conclude on module positioning/orientation precision requirements (WG chaired by Sotiris) Tentative next meeting next week Friday – New results from MM trigger – Re-discuss alignment input in view of going back from 4 to 6 lines for MM – Patrick and colleagues looked into technical implementations of MM fixation  trade offs to be made between level arms, directions to be controlled etc. from slide Nov 2014 S. Zimmermann, NSW SG 4

LHCC Phase-1 Review on Monday Presentation Mechanics/Layout. Alignment. Chamber Construction. Electronics. Testbeam. 19 Nov 2014 S. Zimmermann, NSW SG 5 Specific Topics: Frequency of a LHCC review of Phase-1 project progress: Yearly from now on From 2015 RRB scrutiny group will yearly check into financial aspects as well New JD and engineering change, Layout: Accepted without further (relevant) questions. Questions on present SW dismantle schedule, if it impacts NSW one Alignment: No questions Chamber construction: Some discussion on schedule slip  next slide Electronics: Repeat questions on whether we can say VMM2 works. Testbeam: fine

LHCC Review: Chamber Construction I Schedule (LHCC Upgrade Cost Group, Feb 2014) Similar/same for MicroMegas Production Site setup – until end 2014: on track Module -1 production: 1 st half 2014: completed Test beam (module -1): done Design Review for sTGC/MM detector construction: passed successfully in July  green light for module-0 Module 0 construction: autumn 2014: component procurement/ production ongoing, quadruplets to be completed in spring Qualification in GIF++: moved by ~3 months to spring 2015 Start of mass production: Mid 2015, unchanged sTGC schedule Reviews/ Milestones

LHCC Phase-1 Review on Monday General comments: Request for a list of milestones – should be break points with actions defined if not met. Complaint of not having a updated detailed schedule up to NSW installation LHCC wants to be able to cross off next year which milestones and schedule dates have been met, and where there were things not achieved or delayed 19 Nov 2014 S. Zimmermann, NSW SG 7 Work to do for us !

Upcoming Muon Week (Dec 15-19) Christoph and me decided to have a 4 day week, skipping the Friday since it’s the day CERN closes for Xmas Muon IB will be on Thursday, Nov 18 afternoon days Present Muons + Phase-2 Upgrade, 2 – 2.5 days NSW Rooms: Salle Dirac full week. Upcoming Steering Groups 3 more NSW SG meeting before the Muon Week – they will both take place Next week, Nov 26: – Budget and financial needs for Vertical Slice Test – Budget and financial needs for 2015 test beam Dec 4 or 11: – Schedule – Integration Facilities and Preparation. More precisely get what CERN Muon group will do – Break down of expected cost in Mechanics & Integration MoU category. – Budget/financial needs for Integration CERN – VMM2 additional wafers order, additional mini-2 boards production 19 Nov 2014 S. Zimmermann, NSW SG 9

VMM2 Tests, 2014 remaining test beam From next week we have 2 possibly “conflicting” test beam activities discussed MicroMegas in magnetic field in H4, in context of the RD51 test beam time. planned with APV. Parasitic use in H6  kept for VMM2 testing (sTGC, MM) VMM2 mini-2 SRS board status:  Lorne, George (side remark: Board assembly Weizmann and assembly work of Hans Muller workshop was paid from NSW “common” budget …..) SRS readout systems available:  Michele, Paolo, Yan 19 Nov 2014 S. Zimmermann, NSW SG 10 Discussion and agreement on priorities/programme …
