Progress and plans for HO Installation S. Dugad, K. Sudhakar Tata Institute of Fundamental Research India-CMS Meeting at BARC, 20-21 July 2005

Progress  During March-2005 CMS week HO group was told about making cable layout plan  Fabio (Muon Group) presented tentative layout plans in March-2005 CMS week.  In April, HO team visited CERN for equipment training. During this visit, we presented new scheme for the same which was accepted and were asked to workout more details  Since then, P. Verma, mechanical engineer from TIFR, started implementing this scheme.  Mock-up of HO panel was made at TIFR to see the feasibility of the layout scheme.

Progress contd...  After rigorous interaction with the Integration group in last 3 months, layout scheme is more or less accepted for Ring-2 in full detail.  In view of the long delivery period of signal cables, it was important to finalize these lengths.  After laying actual signal cables (by HO group during 12-15 July) on Ring-2 (Sector-6 & 8) as per the proposed layout design, actual lengths were compared with estimated lengths from ACAD design. After reasonable agreement between actual and estimated design length; the signal cable were finalized and order to be placed soon.  HV and Signal Cables have different path HV Cable on Sector-2 laid up to HV patch panel. Actual length agrees with ACAD estimations.

Some more ….

Readout Box (RBX) Calibration  Length of calibration cables were re-evaluated by making a mock-up at TIFR. They were installed in RBX at CERN and certified to be OK  Calibration cables made for RING+2  To be made for Ring +1, 0, -1, -2  Cables to be sent to CERN and start testing RBX boxes ~ Sep.-2005

Status of Ring-1 layout scheme  Cables to be routed from readout side of Muon Detectors  More complications!  MAB problem for Ring ± 2 resolved completely, but it is more serious for Ring ±1 and not yet resolved  Proposed layout scheme is a combination of Fabio/HO proposal  Details being finalized

Details of Overlap Region in Plan View

Installation of HO panels  4 (out of 12) HO panels in Ring+2 installed  From 19 th July another 6 will be mounted on Ring+2 and 10 on Ring+1  Vertical sectors (1 & 7) will be mounted in UX5.

Proposed Action Plans  Ring-0 layout scheme at preliminary stage  Ring 1 layout and installation plans to be finalized at TIFR/CERN  Source Run scheme to be finalized by Sep.2005 at TIFR  For new layout scheme of cables we need to make 1000 clamps at TIFR (CERN?)

Proposed Action Plans  Testing of RBX from Sep.2005  New DAQ to arrive in mid-august at CERN  Making HV and LT Box for Ring ±2 at CERN  Disconnect points for Ring ±1 at FNAL  RBX/Tray Cable installation Oct.2005 for Ring+2 at CERN  Light Leak/Calibration runs after installation in Oct.2005 at CERN  Source Runs Nov.-2005
