Pilot Small Medium and Micro Enterprises (SMME) Grant Due 31 March 2011 Based on need to support SMMEs who do not traditionally participate in learnerships Amount will be limited to R11,000 per five employees employed in the SMME organisation SizeAmount 1 – 5R 11,000 6 – 10R 22, – 15R 33, – 20R 44, – 25R 55, – 30R 66, – 35R 77, – 40R 88, – 45R 99, – 49R 110,000 4

Assessor and Moderator Grant Reimburse cost of training, provided the assessor or moderator registers against a Fasset qualification The assessor requires approval from the relevant professional body Application form available on website 5

Learnership Cash Grant (LCG) Fasset offers a LCG for black and/or disabled learners on selected Fasset learnerships Grant is applicable to firms employing fewer than 150 people Maximum of 10 approved grants will be allowed per employer Learners registered during 1 Jan – 31 Dec 2010, apply for LCG on 31 March 2011 First-come first-served basis Tax deduction changes 6

Development Projects To address the shortage of professionals in the sector Funded workplace programmes includes soft skills, financial skills, technical and/or academic skills Learners are black and/or people with a disability 70% placement minimum requirement Employers may apply for the LCG for these learners 10

Current Work Readiness Programmes GTCSS Bonani produces Professional Accountants at NQF 6 GTCSS Phakamani produces Accounting Technicians at NQF 5 SHA Thusanani produces various support staff (project managers, HR practitioners, IT specialists, etc) at NQF 6 IRBA 2010 Bridging Support produces Registered Auditors at NQF 7 Thuthuka Repeat QE and Small Practices Programme produces Chartered Accountants at NQF 7 11

12 Seta Landscape Move to the Department of Higher Education and Training provides an opportunity to ensure that education and training is more closely aligned Status quo will remain unchanged until March 2011 Public hearings held regarding Seta landscape NSDS III was released for public comment Sector Skills Plan (SSP) to be submitted 31 August – strategic plan for 5 years
