Filmmaking Team building skills Creative problem solving skills Logic skills Critical thinking skills Research skills

Living in a visual world has led to a new visual literacy which has become the primary form of communication of the new millennium.

This change in computing, bandwidth and technology is changing how we learn and what we learn.

We must place more importance on learning how to learn and to think critically rather than simply memorizing facts.

“Look let’s face it, the cinema – the classical cinema – is gone. It’s over. The cinema as we know it up to now, is disappearing. It doesn’t mean that cinema is dead. Rather, it’s evolving. It’s new, totally new. So new, that some of us may not even be aware of what changes will occur in the next decade.” Martin Scorcese

The Law of Technological Information maintains that the amount of technological information doubles every eighteen months.

According to a Department of Education report, the graduating class ten years from now will be working in jobs and careers that have yet to be invented.

What you need is a balance between the understanding of language, mathematics, science, studies, and other curriculum with the ability to learn how to learn.

Learning that contributes to the development of process skills Helps you to understand the content that exists in your world today. Helps you to explore, develop, and understand the learning processes that you will require forever. “Give a man a fish, he eats for one day, teach him to fish, and he eats forever.”

Project based learning Break into groups of four or five students. You are now producers for a International Travel Network. Each group will submit a proposal for a travel video that would introduce our television audience to the highlights of a trip to Athens.

Athens travel video What things should travelers know about going to Athens? What attractions would they record? Why? How do you get around in Athens? What kind of music might be playing in the background? What language do people speak? What is there to do at night? What’s on the menu at favorite restaurants? What cultural activities occur this time of year? What should travelers wear? Is it hot? How would they get to Athens form here?
