1  PHSEE “MARIE CURIE’’ SLIVEN, BULGARIA

2  Gardner’s multiple intelligences theory can be used for selection of extracurricular activities designed to help students develop their strengths and also develop areas in which they are not as strong.

3  Gardner’s multiple intelligences theory was used to identify the types of intelligence, interests, abilities and aptitudes of the students in PHSEE “Marie Cuirie”

4  32% of the students have Bodily-Kinesthetic intelligence.  Project activities organized to develop the Bodily- Kinesthetic intelligence:  Drama club  Gardening  Tourism  Sport festivals

5  On 11th of March 2015, started the first Drama club in our school.  The training program includes introduction to basic concepts - semiotics, statics, dynamics; theatrical improvisation; life of the body and soul.  At the base of all this is the pantomime – the art that touches not only the body but the soul because everything that is externally expressed, is first felt in the heart.

6  The activities of cleaning and embellishing the school create a sense of community and responsibility for the world and environment.  Every spring our school organizes a campaign called “Problem-Free School and Happy Students”. The students do landscape activities, clean, paint, decorate and embellish the classrooms.

7  Traveling is considered as the most delightful experience in the life of students.  Students eagerly look forward for such kind of opportunities when they are taken out of the four walls of classrooms.

8  23% of the students have Interpersonal intelligence.  Project activities organized to develop the Interpersonal intelligence:  Competitions  Debates  Cooperative learning activities  School trips

9  The team competition is a form of cooperative learning.  The team work educates in responsibility to the common activity, ability to solve problems, respect for the views of the others.

10  The competition "Become rich with knowledge" was held in PHSEE "Marie Curie" on March 21st, 2015.  The competition is modeled on the popular TV game show "Who wants to be a millionaire?".  The participants answered questions from the curriculum, for the relevant class, in English, Bulgarian language and Literature, Mathematics, Geography, History, Physics and Chemistry.  The questions were of increasing difficulty. As well as the television contest there were jokers – a friend help, 50 to 50 and the most emotional – a support from the audience.

11  The purpose of the debate is the application of cooperative learning as an educational approach in which, through teamwork to develop the interpersonal intelligence, critical thinking and effective communication.  The basic principles underlying the debate are tolerance and respect for different viewpoints.  Participation in debates develops good arrangement of thoughts and exposing them clearly, effectively and convincingly.

12  On March 13th 2015, in PHSEE "Marie Curie" Sliven Bulgaria, was held a debate between students from 9A and 9B classes. The topic of the debate was “The Positive Thinking.“  The debates provoke the participants to examine a problem from many aspects, to question various assumptions, explore the facts and develop logical arguments to convince others of the correctness of the position they take.

13  12% of the students have Logical- Mathematical intelligence. Project activities organized to develop the Logical- Mathematical intelligence:  Chess club  Competition “Friends of the Science”

14  On 14th of January 2015 a chess club was established in PHSEE "Marie Curie“.  Mentioned below are some of the most important benefits that the students can avail by practicing chess as an extracurricular activity at school. Improving the learning, thinking, analytical power, and decision-making ability. Learning the importance of foresight and planning. Learning the importance of being disciplined in life. Improving the self-confidence. Assessing of the situation before making any decision. Improving concentration and academic performance.

15  12% of the students have Spatial-Visual intelligence.  Project activities organized to develop the Spatial-Visual intelligence:  Logo competition  Posters competition

16  11% of the students have Musical intelligence.  Project activities organized to develop the Musical intelligence:  Talents show  Christmas show

17  8% of the students have Intrapersonal intelligence.  Project activities organized to develop the Intrapersonal intelligence:  „Career day“

18  On 24th of April, 2015 in the Professional High School of Electronics and Electrical Engineering “Marie Curie" was held "Career Day".  Our guests were 180 secondary school students. They had the opportunity to see the school, learn about the fields of study and acquire knowledge about the technology world. At their disposal were all specialized laboratories and computer rooms.  Special interest provoked the student’s demonstrations of Lego robotics, fun electronics and household appliances remote control.

19  2% of the students have Linguistic intelligence.  Project activities organized to develop the Linguistic intelligence:  Creative writing competition  Essay competition  School newspaper

20  The school newspaper “Harmony in technique” is released with the active participation of students and aims develop the Verbal-Linguistic intelligence.  This project activity helps create more concise, focused, and structured writing.  Working at a student newspaper is the closest simulation of a real-world newsroom that student-journalists could find and gives them a better understanding of media processes. It gives an appreciation for the nuances of written language and of good editing.
