Bell Times Survey May 2012

Comments regarding early start times for high/middle schools Concerns about lack of sleep and possible impact on student performance Concerns about safety in the winter when it is dark outside Considering moving bell times ahead by minutes to allow for later start times Issues

Bell Times

SLPS runs 3 tier system with goal to balance buses between the 3 tiers Most cost efficient approach Would cost the district an extra $8 -10 million to move to 2 tier system or to shift the times for only one tier without changing all the times SLPS has magnet schools which require transportation across the city resulting in increased transportation time and the need for more time between tiers Considerations

Seeking feedback to the proposed new school schedules Replies are due back Friday, May 18 via Website – Voice Mail – (314) Return Form back to school Feedback
