The Blonde Boy By TOM

THE HEAD!!

The Statue Made around 480BC Discovered on acropolis in 1887AD At the end of the archaic period, explains quality of features. Only 25 cm high, correct height Now found in acropolis museum

The statue Traces of yellow paint still on hair Archaic smile not very present, more sadness. On page 80, headwear can still be seen Would have been destroyed when Persians sacked Athens.

features Plain hair, just waves with curls at the end Well proportioned eyes. Rather squashed ears, but correct detail Head would originally have been tilted on the statue. Very flat nose from side

Words “an exceptional head” – G.Papathanassopoulos “must’ve belonged to a similar (to the kritios boy) statue” – Woodford “grave and beautiful features” – woodford

opinions Looks more Greek than Egyptian, shows transition between archaic and classical period. I think its pretty good!
