S.3 English Interview Project -- Tourism in Hong Kong ~~ Oral Presentation

Interview Information Date: 3rd January 2003 Location: The Peak and Tsim Sha Tsui Number of foreign visitors interviewed: 8 Number of photos taken: 2

Summary of Interview We interviewed 8 foreigners and most of them were young adults. They came from different corners of the world; some from Australia, some from America, some even come from India. They visit Hong Kong mostly for holiday. Quite a number of them will stay in Hong Kong a week or so. They tend to visit famous attractions in Hong Kong like the Peak, Temple Street Market, Hollywood Road and etc. Only two of the interviewees said that they will not visit Hong Kong again and another two said that they are not sure whether or not they would visit Hong Kong. The others said that they will visit Hong Kong in the future.

Johnny’s Reflections and Feelings On the 3rd of January, we went to the Peak Tower and Tsim Sha Tsui to interview the tourists who visited Hong Kong. I interviewed 2 tourists and they were all very friendly. After the interview, I have learned the way to interview with other people. Also, I have learned more about the attractions around Hong Kong. I think many who come to Hong Kong liked this place very much, but if can solve problems like air pollution, more tourists will come to Hong Kong. I have had a good time during the interview at the Peak.

Jeffrey’s Reflections and Feelings I felt very tired after doing this project. On that day, we need to go to the Peak to interview the tourists. We walked around and around looking for some tourists, but we could just interview 3 tourists. So we went to the Star Ferry Pier and stood there for 2 hours. At last, we made it! Although it was tiring, it was still worth it! It was surprising that some tourists have unexpected response like ‘I dislike Chinese!’ or ‘I am in a hurry. Go away!’ And what we can do is to smile. This is my first time doing a project that needs to interview, so I think it was interesting! I really had a fun time with my friends.

Victor’s Reflections and Feelings On the 3rd of January, our group went to the Peak and Tsim Sha Tsui East to do our English project. I felt tired after the interview, but I have learned quite a lot of things during the interview. However, it was not the interview which makes the day really exciting, it was the ice- cream lunch we had. It was quite expensive, but tasted pretty good. We had our lunch in one of the outdoor platforms. It was so cold since we ate the ice cream when the wind is blowing.

Carmen’s Reflections and Feelings At last the ‘Xmas project has come to the end! This project has made me both excited and annoyed. Excited, because there are many first times during the interview; first time going out to the city alone; first time having to interview foreigners on the streets; first time boarding the Star Ferry and many more. Annoyed, because of the rather rude response from some tourists. Also, I felt quite annoyed being rejected by the tourists. (Of course I remain smiling when they rejected me.) Anyway, it has been a fun time with my friends. I still remember the cool lunch we had that day. Eating ice cream when the wind is blowing made me frozen!

The End~ Bye Bye~!
