Learning Preferences Visual-verbal: looking at words Visual-nonverbal: looking at symbols, numbers, graphs, pictures, and etc. Auditory: hearing Tactile-Kinesthetic: Learning by doing/physical action

Myth versus Truth Myth: Focus on just one learning preference (learning “styles”) Fact: use as many learning preferences as you can all at one time

Questions Describe learning situations that challenge a person with your group’s learning preference. What strategies could a person use to adapt to each of those situations? Based on the strategies discussed in Question #2, how could your group use it’s learning preference while also using active learning strategies?

Active versus Passive Learning Passive Learning: Using one or two learning preferences at the same time (if using two) while learning. Active Learning: Using three or more learning preferences at the same time while learning.
