Eco Committee Our Eco Code Don’t be a litter bug You will ruin the environment Reuse, reduce, recycle Save energy Plant all the seeds But take out all the weeds This is the way to go This is the way to show We are eco and that’s what you know! By Samantha, Sophie, Zainab and Kameron P6b The Eco Committee continue to meet regularly, coming up with brilliant new ideas to make Carolside Primary Eco Friendly. This session, the committee have been focusing on four main areas, which are: Litter Biodiversity Energy Waste Minimisation Have a look at what we have been up to in each area.

Litter Litter Spies continue to be appointed within each class. Shhhhh! It’s a secret, you don’t know who they are. The committee have made a litter picker rota, where each class gets a chance to volunteer to help tidy our playground. Biodiversity The gardening club continues to meet on a Tuesday. They have planted spring bulbs and grow their own plants from seeds. Look out for their plants in the planters next to the Nature Lab. We want to encourage wildlife into our school grounds, so we are planning to make bug hotels. We are working hard to try and tidy the Secret Garden, but need some help. Any volunteers are welcome.

Waste Minimisation The Rag Bags Scheme was successful last time we got involved, therefore we are planning to do this soon. We are encouraging staff and pupils to reduce, reuse and recycle. For example: we ask for staff and pupils to use both sides of paper, where appropriate Use the paper recycle bags in each class. Energy We have appointed an energy monitor in each class and they make use of the energy saver checklist we made. The committee are making energy saving stickers. These will go next to electrical appliances to remind people to switch them off when not in use.
