What we as pharmacist believe our profession to be determines what it is Wendell T.Hill,Jr.

The mission of the profession of pharmacy is to: improve public health through ensuring safe, effective, and appropriate use of medications.

Pharmacy Practice Definition The discipline within pharmacy that involves developing the professional roles of the pharmacist.

Pharmacy Practice Aim The practice of pharmacy aims at providing and promoting the best use of drugs and other health care services and products, by patients and members of the public. It requires that the welfare of the patient is the pharmacist's prime concern at all times.

Our Job is no longer to ‘’Count, Pour, Lick, and Stick’’

The Changing Role Over the past four decades there has been a trend for pharmacy practice to move away from its original focus on medicine supply towards focusing on patient care. Increasingly, the pharmacist’s task is to ensure that a patient’s drug therapy is appropriately indicated, the most effective available, the safest possible, and convenient for the patient. The new approach is called ‘’Pharmaceutical care’’

Pharmaceutical Care “Pharmaceutical care is the responsible provision of drug therapy for the purpose of achieving definite outcomes that improve or maintain a patient’s quality of life”.
