About Medical Case Management The SCS Medical Case Management team has a proven track record built over many years providing services to Government agencies. We offer a level of independence delivered in a partnership arrangement that focuses on your business needs. We work with agency management giving them support when they are making decisions that affect staff. Our consultants are accredited Rehabilitation and Return to Work Co-Coordinators under the Workers’ Compensation and Rehabilitation Act Support can be provided as an ongoing service for agencies or ‘as needed’ to cover peak loads in agencies.

Current Medical Case Management Services How SCS adds value to your operations We offer: – illness/injury management for both work and non-work related conditions, particularly where cases are more complex such as those involving psychological illness or injury – end to end case management including medical rehabilitation, host placement, reasonable adjustments, approval by necessary delegate for permanent restrictions and ill health retirement – Separation surveys and reporting.

Medical Case Management Services (continued) When SCS receives a request for assistance, we: Contact the supervisor and gain as much information regarding the case as possible, check leave has been submitted and that the employee is aware of the appointment of SCS as the case manager Contact the employee to obtain copies of medical certificates and return to work details Provide advice on leave types available to employees including QSuper and Workcover as applicable Ask employees to complete an authority for the agency to access medical information.

When SCS receives a request for assistance, we: Consider whether contacting the treating medical practitioner is required at this stage in order to progress the case Set up the file and manage end to end process. Medical Case Management Services (continued)

Current JEMS Evaluation Services We offer: – JEMS evaluation of SES and SES-equivalent positions (provided by a MercerCED Accredited senior evaluator) – JEMS evaluation of other positions (provided by MercerCED Trained evaluators) – Market-based remuneration advice, sourced on our client’s behalf from leading remuneration consultants such as Mercer and Hay Consulting – To conduct reviews to assist agencies to re-align staffing levels and structures – Assistance to agencies with individual or group job redesign, business unit structural re-alignments, and conduct workload/classification research and projects.

Current JEMS Evaluation Services (continued) We offer: – Support for re-alignment in agencies by working with individuals and business units to collaboratively identify and remove unnecessary functions – Assistance to agencies to develop business cost structures to maximise efficiency and effectiveness and reduce unnecessary layers of administration by conducting value- for-money reviews and associated organisation development.

Examples of specific services offered by Job Evaluations group Role description development and review Assist managers in developing new role descriptions to meet the needs of business units and the role’s deliverables, or to assess and amend existing role descriptions to reflect significant changes in deliverables. It is recommended that you review the role descriptions when: Machinery of Government changes occur Unit/Branch restructures occur Individual roles change; or Approximately two years has lapsed since the last review High level advice on job design Job design service assists managers in developing roles and provides expert advice to ensure the role is consistent or integrates with others in the business unit. Business unit design and review The reviews provide design and structural analysis, including evaluation and change management strategies for business units or divisions. The service looks at not only the unit as a whole, but how it fits within the agency’s strategy and tactics, for example, following MOG changes.

Examples of specific services offered by Job Evaluations group (continued) Information Sessions for teams and managers These sessions cover: Job evaluation information including: what is JEMS; when should a role be evaluated; what information is required to complete an evaluation? How to manage MOG changes by realising benefits Specialised briefs to senior and executive management. These sessions can be tailored to specific needs, or to a large number of staff, or with a small select group as part of your regular staff meeting. SES evaluationsIncludes but is not limited to: Undertaking role analysis with SES supervisor and job evaluation of the role Development of role descriptions Advice on remuneration and associated matters for SES managers. Identification of comparable roles from DSITI’s Job Evaluation Database Our job evaluation database currently holds close to 2,600 evaluation records and role descriptions for Queensland Public Sector roles. The database can provide assistance to managers researching roles and in identifying comparable roles throughout the government.
