Working Meeting for the vision and architecture of GEOSS Information System 20 September 2013 ESA/ESRIN Frascati Italy

Vision and architecture of GEOSS Information System Session 1 - Opening Chaired by Mirko Albani, ESA Martin Ditter, ESA: Welcome and Logistics George Percivall, OGC: Objective of the meeting Self-Introductions for all Barbara Ryan, GEO Secretariat GEOSS Vision

Vision and architecture of GEOSS Information System GEOSS is a global and flexible network of content providers: System of Systems GEOSS provides decision support to a wide diversity variety of users GEOSS Common Infrastructure (GCI) for discovery of resources: systems, data, services GEOSS Data Sharing Principles emphasizing access to full and open data (GEOSS DataCORE)

Aim of the meeting to better understand ("the key questions) How GEO/GEOSS should evolve to better serve the diversity of real users? What changes in the digital landscape are relevant to GEO/GEOSS? –Evaluation and inclusion of emerging technologies What processes should be put in place to ensure: –Maintenance and evolution of Core GEOSS Components –Clustering and interfacing with existing or new GEOSS Resources –Engagement of user communities and new initiatives
