Ford’s MyKey Arianna Campos 10/08/09

MyKey A chip will be installed in 2010 Ford models’ ignition key to control car settings for concerned parents who lend the car to their teens drivers. What settings??

Parents Top 3 Concerns -Speed -Seat Belts -Audio System Volume

How it Works Teen gets the key that is programmed which is called the MyKey Speed would be limited to 80mph* Alerts if exceeds 45, 55, or 65mph Alerts every 6 sec if seat belt is not on* Volume lowers if too high detail/switched-fords-mykey- system/ detail/switched-fords-mykey- system/

Parents Vs. Teens 75% say it is positive Safe Reliable Alert effective More likely let teens use their vehicles with the system. “Our message to parents is, hey, we are providing you some conditions to give your new drivers that may allow you to feel a little more comfortable in giving them the car more often“ 67% dislike Will not learn on their own Parental Control "I wouldn't want my parents to have that much control over how I'm driving," she said. "If your parents are holding your hand, you're never going to learn."
