What happens when you make the wrong choice? Read the following slide, watch a couple of videos and read about a local car crash that killed several teens in in our area. Think about what kind of driver you want to be and what kind of driver with whom you want to ride.

According to information from aftercaraccidents.com, the top 5 reasons for fatal accidents involving teen drivers are: 1. Speeding - a factor in 52% of all fatal crashes with teen drivers in Drinking and Driving – a factor 25% of all fatal teen car crashes. 3. Night Driving – 58% of fatal crashes occur between the hours of 9:00 pm and midnight. 4. No Seat Belts – 55% of teens that died in car crashes in 2012 were not wearing seat belts. 5. Cell Phones – Your car crash risk is 400% higher when you use your phone while driving.

4 Positive Choices as a: Driver: Wear your seat belt.
Drive the speed limit. Drive sober. Drive at a safe distance behind other vehicles. Ignore your phone. Pull over if you need to use your phone. Pay attention to your surroundings. Obey all traffic laws. Passenger: Wear your seatbelt. Make sure the driver is not under the influence of drugs or alcohol. Offer to text/call for the driver if needed. Pay attention to your surroundings and help the driver identify potential dangers.
