Vocabulary Physical maps: a style of map that shows naturally made landmarks. Some landmarks are rivers, lakes, and mountains. Political maps: map the boundaries defining nations, country's, states, provinces, and territories and the major cities that lie within them. Continent: one of seven landmasses on earth. Map: a representation of part of the earth. Map key: a small chart included on a map that gives descriptions of what symbols are used.

Geography The continents are North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, Australia, and Antarctica. The five oceans are Atlantic, Pacific, Indian, Arctic, and Southern. Historical Events in the Continents Ancient Aztecs, Mayans, Olmecs, and Incas lived in South America. Ancient Rome, and Ancient Greece settled in Europe.

Facts about the Continents North America is the third largest continent, and twenty four county's make up North America. In Europe the farther north you go the colder it gets, and one of the most unknown facts about Europe remains that there was a period in the history of Europe, known as the ‘age of migrations’, which led to the diversity in the present European culture that we see today. In Africa the equator runs through the top, and the desert harms people with sand storms. For South America the climate is very humid and damp, the Pacific and Atlantic Oceans surround South America. For Australia it has opposite weather to North America, and the Pacific Ocean is home to the Great Barrier Reef.

Facts about the Continents For Antarctica when it's glaciers melt, it causes floods, and no one lives in Antarctica, except for scientists. For Asia the equator runs through the bottom of it's Southern part, and it's the largest continent on Earth.

The religions in South America: Roman Catholicism and Protestant is the dominate religion in this continent. The religion of Europe: Christianity, Islam, and Judaism are the major religions practiced in Europe.

Culture/ Interactions between the Continents Silk Road was an excellent example of interaction between Continents. These were trade routes that connected East, South, and Western Asia with the Mediterranean and European world, as well as parts of North and East Africa. It extended 4,000 miles. Another example of interaction between continents was world wars. The war between Europe and North America was caused because they wanted control of their region. Britain, France, and Germany fought in the American Revolutionary War which impacted Europe and America.
