RtI Core Principles We can effectively teach all children Intervene early Use a multi-tier model of service delivery Use a problem-solving methodology

RtI Core Principles (2) Use research-based, scientifically validated interventions/instruction Monitor student progress to inform instruction Use data to make decisions Use assessments for three different purposes: (1) screening; (2) diagnostics; and (3) progress monitoring

7 RTI Steps 1. Core Instruction implemented with fidelity 2. Universal Screening/Data Collection (3x yr) 3. Data reviews by Building/Grade Level/Dept. Teams 4. Evaluate the success of core program, modify as needed 5. Tier 2 interventions and Intense Tier 3 interventions 6. Progress monitoring data is collected for Tier 2 and 3 7. Data reviews of progress monitoring data by Building/Grade Level Team 8. Evaluate the success of tier 2 and 3 interventions, modify as needed 9. Evaluation of Implementation
