Level Up!!! Type 6 : Presenting a conclusion This question type is easy!! You are expected to argue for or against an issue using the sources (You can use the sources you have already analysed in previous parts of the paper!!!) and your own knowledge.

Question stems How far do you agree that……? To what extent did…….? How true is it to say that…?

How do you answer this type of question? Step 1 Step 1 Begin with an opening sentence using the question eg. I agree (or disagree) with the idea that….. OR the contribution of the war to womens right to vote was important to a certain extent.

Step 2 Use the evidence in the sources to argue your case. As you have already written about them this bit should be easy! Step 3 Use as much of your own knowledge as you can. Step 4 Have a sentence to sum up your findings in a balanced conclusion.

Question Question : To what extent was Stalin a good leader of the USSR? c. 50 million killed under Stalins rule from , excluding WW2 war losses. Hitlers reign killed c. 42 million Stalins atrocities (acts against humans) have often been seen as worse than Hitlers. You are expected to have revised beforehand for this so here are some facts on Stalin – make a note of them or remember them. Now look at the sources in your exam:

Underground explosions were considerably lessened by the invention of the Davy Safety Lamp. Strong, wire rope became more widely used in all pits. You now already have information from these sources which you could use in your answer.
