CONDITION - BASED MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT Provide a wireless network of MEMS- based, strain and accelleration sensors, for monitoring of Reinforced Concrete buildings Provide a structural module that, based on input from strain and acceleration sensors, assess the degree of damage on each structural element under operating loads (differential settlements) and after an earthquake Provide a maintenance management module to select the remedial measure and assess its cost 1 st MEMSCON Event 07/10/10, Bucharest TECNIC

CONDITION – BASED MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT Assessment of structural damage based on sensor measurements of strain in case of operating loads and acceleration in case of an earthquake Definition of the rehabilitation options and their unitary costs Estimation of the repair costs through an integrated software to the Memscon Package 1 st MEMSCON Event 07/10/10, Bucharest TECNIC

CONDITION – BASED MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT OPERATING LOADS Early detection of differential settlements of the foundations as a function of time Evaluation of the internal forces for each structural element of the R.C. building as a function of time Assessment of the safety factors Reliable information to the R.C. Building facility Managers 1 st MEMSCON Event 07/10/10, Bucharest TECNIC

CONDITION-BASED MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT EARTHQUAKE ACTION The objective is to provide a quick estimate of costs of the structural rehabilitation works Accomplishment of this objective through the collection of damage indices of discrete stuctural components Connection of damage indices to damage ratios Relation between Damage Ratios, Safety Factors and Damage States and the various rehabilitation techniques of repair 1 st MEMSCON Event 07/10/10, Bucharest TECNIC

CONDITION BASED – MAINTENANCE MANAGEMENT ‏ TECNIC 1 st MEMSCON Event 07/10/10, Bucharest R.C. Moment Frame Buildings Rehabilitation Techniques ‏ Column Jacketing Column rehabilitation is often critical to the seismic performance of a structure. To prevent a story mechanism during an earthquake, columns should never be the weakest components in a building structure. Jacketing of damaged columns is used to solve problems of inadequate shear capacity, inadequate concrete compression strain and stress capacity due to lack of concrete confinement and inadequate lap splice. Concrete, FRP, CFRP or steel overlays may be use in jackets
