Promoting the use of technology enabled care Emma Lewis and Sam Armour

Smart Supports Team Smart Supports are a team based in East Ayrshire, which was set up in October The team is comprised of 5 team members, with two people having an AHP background. Smart Supports can allow a person to stay in their own home and feel safe.

A basic package Community Alarm Pendant Smoke detector 24 hour call / response service

However there is so much more…….. Environmental sensors Medication dispensers Chair/bed occupancy sensors Fall detectors

However there is so much more…….. Door/property exit sensors X10 lamp controllers Epilepsy seizure mats Epilepsy bracelets

And even more…….. Buddi Buddi harnesses the latest in satellite navigation technology to pinpoint a wearer’s location, and a mobile phone network to communicate between the Buddi and a 24/7 emergency monitoring centre. Registered contacts, such as family members, friends or neighbours, are then alerted automatically via landline or mobile phone. Just Checking Movement sensors in the home generate a chart of daily living activity, which can be viewed online by family members, professionals etc. Just Checking gives an up- to-the-minute picture as a person gets on with their daily life, all without being intrusive or depriving them of their privacy.

Case Study – Mrs H

What we did... Installed Just Checking to monitor routines/activity within the home. To see if there was evidence of the perceived risks.
