General paragraph MISSION The Academy for Government Accountability will forge relationships among government, business, academia and interested others to support research and education initiatives and advance thought leadership in bringing transparency and accountability to government financial management.

General paragraph THE ACADEMY: SOME BRIEF FACTS 501 (c) (3) organization Incorporated in Virginia since 1979 Original intent was to provide education and research services to the AGA Several projects have been completed over the years July 2002 Article " Aiming for Accuracy: Financial Managers Are Trying to Get More Timely and Useful Information to Decision-Makers"

General paragraph RESURRECTING THE ACADEMY In 2005, the Academy was reintroduced to the AGA National Executive Committee (NEC) with a revised mission Dr. Sri Ramamoorti, Partner, Grant Thornton was named Chair by the NEC AGA committed $200,000 to fund the Academy in supporting basic research projects – there's nothing so practical as a good theory (Kurt Lewin) Revised bylaws were presented and approved by the NEC in February 2006
