2011 Institute on High-Impact Practices and Student Success June 14-18, 2011 The University of Vermont Burlington, Vermont The Institute is designed to help campuses develop high-impact practices, activities, and strategies that are engaging to students and effective at improving both persistence and achievement of essential learning outcomes.

Curriculum and Tracks High-Impact Practices Leadership Development Designs for Learning Useful Evidence Special Session for Community College Teams: CCSSE and SENSE

Action Plan Institute activities are designed to help each team create and rehearse an action plan. At the end of the Institute, each team makes a formal presentation of its action plan to the liaisons and the other cluster teams.

Application Deadline: Tuesday, March 1, 2011 The narrative should be clear and concise, and should reflect your work on the Roadmap Project. Need Goals Contributions Team Guidelines.cfm

Institute Fees and Travel Guidelines Fees are covered by the Roadmap Project Individual guest rooms for four nights (arrival on June 14 and departure on June 18, 2011) Tuition, materials, consultations Breakfast and lunch each day, opening and closing dinners $550 per team member to be reimbursed for airfare, transportation, and additional meals

Example Inquiry Questions High-Impact Practices Learning Outcomes What are the effective practices that your institution uses to engage students? Are these practices high-impact? Are they embedded in both curricular and co- curricular activities? Are they tied to learning outcomes? How are they assessed? How can they be integrated?

Example Inquiry Questions Institutional Trends What have been the trends in student success along the pathways at your institution for the past three years? What student groups (segments) do you consider in your review of student success? Where are the gaps in services? For which targeted populations?

Example Inquiry Questions Data What have you learned from your analysis of such instruments as the Community College Survey of Student Engagement or SENSE? How does your institution monitor student success along the pathways? What are the milestones that you use to determine student success?
