Fighting Fit Rocky doesn't work on one aspect of his fitness that could be disastrous when he comes to fight! What is fitness? 4. Suppleness – How flexible and toned you are is another measure of how fit you are! Gymnasts are very supple!

Fighting Fit These are the 4 S's of fitness: What is fitness? All 4 count when you talk about how fit someone is! 2. Strength 3. Speed 4. Suppleness 1. Stamina

Fighting Fit In Pairs spend 5 minutes thinking of a way of comparing each of the 4 S's between normal people: Speed, Stamina, Strength, Suppleness How do we measure fitness? I'm going to pick on a few pairs to tell me their answers, so think hard!

Fighting Fit Recovery Time One way of measuring fitness, especially stamina is to measure the recovery time of a person after an activity. We can do this in 2 ways: 1. Look at a person's heart rate after an activity and see how long it takes to come back to normal 2. Look at a person's breathing rate after an activity and see how long it takes to come back to normal

Fighting Fit Recovery Time Experiment We're going to look at our heart rate to look at our own recovery times: 1. Get into pairs 2. Measure your pulse for 1 minute. 3. Step up and down for a maximum of 3 minutes 4. After this every 1 minute record your pulse until you have 2 readings which are the same 5. While you are measuring person 2 does the stepping Heart Rate Time 6. Plot a graph of heart rate against time after exercise for yourself

Conclusion ● What do your results show you? Evaluation ● How could the experiment be improved? ● What other ways could you use to test your fitness?
