At-Large Advisory Committee

Remember Us? The role of the At-Large Advisory Committee ("ALAC") shall be to consider and provide advice on the activities of ICANN, insofar as they relate to the interests of individual Internet users. Bylaws, XI, § 4

Introducing Our Chair Annette Muehlberg

Status update 50 At-Large Structures (ALSs) now cover all ICANN regions Two regions have begun the process to create Regional At-Large Organizations (RALOs), Europe and Asia-Pacific New website launched in Wellington, visit us at

Policy Matters In Wellington, we held two well-attended Internet User Forums: –New top-level domains (gTLDs) –International domain names (IDNs) See links on our websites to the ICANNWIKI notes. Thanks ICANNWIKI folks! Lets continue this work with participation in the Policy Development Processes (PDP) to be launched.

Meeting with the ICANN Board No blood was shed. :) We were encouraged by the Boards stated commitment to Internet users issues. We expressed concern that the Board does not respond to ALACs input. Based on this meeting, we hope that predictable process and schedules will improve our communications. Board expressed strong desire to hear from individual Internet users and supported new information gathering.

Is anyone listening? Continuing concern about the.com agreement and settlement with Verisign –ALACs public statement (on the website) expressed Internet users concerns Return to ICANNs core values: –6. Introducing and promoting competition in the registration of domain names where practicable and beneficial in the public interest.
