LEAP Given in grades 4, 8, 10, and 11 High stakes test- Students must pass (according to state standards) to be considered for promotion. Written Response Short Answer Multiple Choice Not Timed

LEAP 21 Achievement Levels Advanced: Student has demonstrated superior performance. (ELA 82%, Math 84%) Mastery: Student has demonstrated competency over challenging subject matter and is well prepared for the next level of schooling. (ELA 71%, Math 74%) Basic: Student has demonstrated only the fundamental knowledge and skills needed for the next level of schooling. (ELA 60%, Math 63%) Approaching Basic: Student only partially demonstrated the fundamental knowledge and skills needed for the next level for schooling. (ELA 53%, Math 56%) Unsatisfactory: Student has not demonstrated the fundamental knowledge and skills needed for the next level of schooling.

Parents’ Role in LEAP Preparation ENCOURAGE your child. Provide a study spot with a dictionary, thesaurus, ruler, and calculator. Read silently and orally with your child. Check written responses. Check explanations of math problems. Emphasize importance of listening, participating, and cooperating with the teacher. Hold your child accountable for LEAP practice materials, activities, and homework. MAKE SURE THAT YOUR CHILD IS HERE AND ON TIME EVERYDAY!
