Each stroke cycle must contain one pull and one kick in that order. During each cycle some part of the swimmer’s head must break the surface of the water. This must bring the swimmer to the surface. There is no limit on the number of butterfly kicks executed. The head must have broken the surface not more than 15m after the start or turn.
