Introduction: Degrassi: The Next Generation is a Canadian television series with a total of six seasons. The show tends to focus on teenage angst and problems of everyday life. The web quest is intended only for middle and high school students. This project is a one student project. You will be meeting the show’s main characters. You will also take a peak into their lives.

The task that you will be completing is very simple. The task will be focusing on the show’s main characters and their lives. You will be answering questions from their slides. At the end you will be picking one character out of all the other characters and you will do a photo story based on the life of the character both at home and Degrassi. Hopefully, you can relate to any one of the characters on a personal level from this web quest.

This is the character Paige Michalchuck, played by actress Lauren Collins. In the first season of the show, Paige was seen more as a snobby, stuck-up girl. By the second season her character began to gain more depth. She is the head cheerleader of the Degrassi’s Spirit Squad. In one of the seasons, Paige attends a party with her best friend Hazel. What happened to Paige at that party?

This is the character Jimmy Brooks, played by actor Aubrey Graham. Jimmy is seen as more of a social jock but is very open minded. He comes from a wealthy family. He tends to have an on and off again relationship with the character Ashley Kerwin. He was the star of Degrassi’s basketball team. Speaking of Degrassi, what incident occurred at Degrassi that left Jimmy paralyzed? Who did this to him?

This is the character Gavin Manson played by actor Shane Kippel. Gavin earned his nick name “Spinner” when he was younger because ADHD caused him to be a hyper active kid who would “spin” out-of-control. His best friend was Jimmy Brooks. Spinner took part in the Degrassi shooting by pulling a prank on Rick. Jimmy was falsely accused but was still shot. After all of Spinner’s friends found out about the prank, all left him. What did Spinner become in order to redeem his friends?

This the character Ellie Nash, played by actress Stacey Farber. She is best friends with Ashley Kerwin. Her first boyfriend was Marco Del Rossi, who later on becomes openly gay. Ellie is an aspiring journalist. Ellie’s parents are separated. Her father joined the Peace Corp and went off to Afghanistan. While her mother was left to battle alcoholism. Stressed, what does Ellie do to herself to relieve her pain?
